This film blew me away when it was originally released, what a really cool story! The CGI is pretty weak(the space scenes - but this was made decades ago) and the rest of the film more than compensates in comparison to today's standards. Compared with similar pictures - this film is much, much better on every level. Great acting and interesting story - will keep even the most action- hungry viewer satisfied!! Enjoy!! 4.75/5
This is one of the great SF movies ever just as good than Star Wars.
And all the great actors are also in it.

SPECIAL EFFECTS IN 1984 WERE NOT THAT GREAT BUT THE WAY THEY DID THEM IN THIS MOVIE IS REALLY COOL. THIS IS A MUST SEE FOR ALL SCI-FI MOVIE BUFFS. I DID NOT READ THE BOOK AND I UNDERSTAND THAT MOST MOVIES(THIS ONE INCLUDED) LOSE A LOT IN THE TRANSFER TO THE BIG SCREEN. THAT BEING SAID THIS MOVIE STILL IS REALLY COOL !!
